Kern County inmate acquitted of possessing 7-inch metal shank

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — An inmate who was housed at California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi was acquitted Wednesday of possessing a 7-inch metal shank, his public defender arguing a correctional officer planted the weapon.

The evidence gathered against Albert C. Sanchez “didn’t make sense,” Deputy Public Defender Gordon Lake said.

“The physical evidence, the body camera footage, and the officer’s testimony did not add up,” Lake said in a release from the Kern County Public Defender’s Office. “The jury saw that.”…
