The Taft Federal Correctional Institution will be permanently closed as part of a nationwide effort by the U.S. Bureau of Prisons to address aging infrastructure, staffing shortages and billions of dollars in deferred maintenance.
Taft FCI located on Cadet Road, has been closed since 2020 and has minimum staffing working there since.
