BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Tamera Popoy’s driver’s license had been expired about two and a half years when she allegedly hit a bicyclist while driving drunk last month, according to a newly-released court filing.
Popoy, charged with crimes including gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated in the death of 66-year-old Gabriel Lopez Ortiz, admitted to drinking alcohol before getting behind the wheel, according to a probable cause declaration released Wednesday. A prosecutor has said her blood-alcohol content was three times the legal limit.
