BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Shafter City Council met Tuesday and confirmed new features and updates coming to three of the city’s parks.
The city requested name suggestions for the upcoming community park in North Shafter from local residents throughout June and received over 500 responses.

Most adults in the community suggested the name “General Park” while the children mainly recommended “Shafter Park,” according to city officials.
