BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Those who have never seen the 2016 animated film “Moana” should find the new live-action version acceptable entertainment. The problem is that the primary audience will be those who embraced the original film and they will face a movie that flounders.
In the latest money grab from Disney, the live-action reimagining of the beloved Oscar-nominated animated adventure follows Moana (Catherine Laga’aia), a spunky young girl who answers the Ocean’s call to take a forbidden voyage beyond the reef of her island of Motunui. She’s on a mission to save her island from total darkness.
