BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Board of Supervisors is set to discuss a proposed ordinance on Tuesday that would bring changes to how street vendors operate on county grounds.
County staff is proposing adding Chapter 5.31 and amending Chapter 5.04 of the Kern County Ordinance Code in relation to street vendors, according to the agenda.

The proposed changes would define “sidewalk vendors” as people who sell food or merchandise from a pushcart, stand, display, wagon, rack or other nonmotorized modes of transport.
It would also allow a license to be issued to a sidewalk vendor to make sure they operate safely and legally without disturbing the “peace and quiet” of a neighborhood and won’t become a burden on county resources, according to the agenda…
