Man convicted of attempted murder in 2022 shooting of victim who was pumping gas

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A Kern County jury found a man guilty of attempted murder in connection to a 2022 shooting of a man at a Bakersfield gas station, according to District Attorney Cynthia Zimmer’s office.

A jury convicted Keith Brian Tobler of attempted murder and found true that Tobler discharged a firearm causing great bodily injury for the Feb. 11, 2022 shooting at a gas station at 34th and Q streets in Bakersfield. The shooting left a man with severe wounds to his face, but he survived.

Prosecutors said Tobler walked up to and confronted the victim who was pumping gas. Surveillance video showed the two speaking to one another when Tobler pulled out a gun and shot the victim at “point blank range” in the face, officials said in a statement. Tobler ran to a vehicle and fled from the scene, but was arrested weeks later .

Murder trial begins for man who stabbed grandmother

The victim suffered facial fractures from the bullet that entered his left cheek and exited through the right, prosecutors said.
