» Trial Postponed for Teen Charged in Fatal Southwest Baltimore Shooting

A teenager charged with the murder of Brian Gaye, 38, had his trial postponed on June 2 after appearing before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland.

Tristin Cofield, 17, is charged with first-degree murder, armed robbery, multiple gun offenses, and several counts of conspiracy in connection to a fatal Aug. 9, 2025 shooting in West Baltimore. Though Cofield’s trial was scheduled to start the morning of June 2, he and defense attorney Matthew Connell were granted were time to prepare.

Surveillance cameras showed Gaye riding a scooter on the 2500 block of W. Franklin Street when two other scooters approached him. After a brief confrontation, Gaye was shot multiple times, and the suspect allegedly fled with Gaye’s scooter, which was valued at $1,300.
