The mid-Atlantic and Northeast will get an early taste of summer as record heat settles into some of the nation’s biggest cities, including New York City.
The heat won’t be as extreme as some of the most recent heat waves the area has experienced, but it will come in quite strongly, as more than a dozen daily record highs could fall during the three-day temperature climb.
Just how hot will the summer-like sizzle be?
Temperatures will gradually warm over the next few days, with the heat peaking on Friday and Saturday.
Highs will reach the lower 90s in places like Washington, D.C., and New York City. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s for places like Boston and Portland. All in all, temperatures will be running 15-20 degrees above normal for much of the busy I-95 corridor, so finding some shade and a cool place will be key during the heat of the day.
