September 22 Tuesday Morning Report
A wet start to the last day of summer, and it will feel like Fall! The equinox is at 8:05 PM, but the day will be rainy and chilly and lock most of the region within a few degrees of 60℉. The radar is active and may not show the lighter showers in between periods of heavy rain. This is on top of the rain that fell yesterday, which pulsed over 2” in parts of Virginia, while Central Maryland ended up with the expected 1/2” average.

The wave of Low Pressure today will feel like a Nor’easter, but is not. The good news is this impulse may actually pull farther out and drag in drier air behind it. So the rain risk will be lower tomorrow and Thursday, while the wind will keep temps cooler in the 60s.
As we look towards the weekend, I also see a preview into the next season: Computer models are split on the developing Nor’easter, so the impact for us is uncertain. I am leaning on the European Model that does develop Low Pressure closer to the coast, with Sunday being ‘our day’ for potential rain and wind…
