Baton Rouge Police are looking for a woman who allegedly was drunk and high when she killed her front-seat passenger and injured two others in a head-on collision with another car on Interstate 10 while driving the wrong way.
Alaja Smith, 23, is wanted for vehicular homicide, two counts of vehicular negligent injuring, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, reckless operation of a vehicle and possession of alcoholic beverages in a vehicle.
Smith was allegedly driving north in the southbound lane of Interstate 10 near the curve at the Governor’s Mansion just after midnight on May 13. Officers responding to the scene found Smith’s Nissan Sentra severely damaged. Smith and the front-seat passenger, Raven Williams, 23, were trapped in the car and had to be extracted. Smith had collided head-on with a 2023 Kia Telluride that was traveling south in the left lane, the arrest warrant said…
