Text mixup leads to kindergarten postcards for Louisiana newspaper project

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – There’s just something about postcards, the quick note and a picture connecting you to someone or someplace special. The small snapshots of life and scenery have become a passion for Jan Risher.

“I think people are really hungry for tangible connection,” said Risher.

Risher is the Louisiana Culture Editor for The Advocate Times Picayune Newspaper, and her desk overflows with postcards from all over. Each summer for five years, she’s petitioned readers to mail in with hopes of getting a postcard from each of the 50 states. That first summer, she says she didn’t think it would last even a few weeks. She was wrong. They got all 50, and then some…
