PRAIRIEVILLE, La. (WAFB) – Three animals are recovering after they were rescued from a house fire in Prairieville.
According to the Galvez-Lake Volunteer Fire Department, they, along with the 7th District Fire Department, responded to the fire in the Keystone Subdivision on Sunday evening, June 7. Firefighters were met with heavy smoke and high heat conditions coming from the residence upon their arrival.
The department says the first-arriving fire officer and Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies successfully found and removed two dogs and one cat from the home. One of the dogs and the cat appeared to be suffering from smoke inhalation and were provided oxygen as well as emergency care by firefighters on the scene.
Officials say all three animals survived. Another cat is believed to have left the residence prior to the arrival of fire officials…
