Audit: Louisiana Office of State Police fail to track property for seventh time

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Auditors again found weaknesses in controls within the Department of Public Safety’s Office of State Police.

According to the report, for the seventh consecutive time, the Office of State Police (OSP) failed to ensure that all property purchased was timely tagged and recorded in the state property system as regulations require.

The audit stated that out of 177 OSP movable property items recorded between July 2024 and June 2025, 150 items totaling $528,799 weren’t entered in the system within 60 days of acquisition…
