BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A woman is facing multiple felony charges after Baton Rouge police say she fired a revolver on I-110, grazing a driver in the head, on Sunday.
Leila Ann Habib, 63, was booked on one count of attempted second-degree murder, one count of aggravated criminal damage to property, one count of simple criminal damage to property, and one count of illegal use of a weapon, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
What police say happened on I-110
According to the affidavit, Habib was involved in a vehicle crash near 674 North Interstate 10, leaving her black Nissan Versa partially on the shoulder and partially blocking the right lane. Detectives said Habib then exited the vehicle and moved on foot between lanes, preventing traffic from passing.
A driver in a gray Chevrolet Silverado said Habib blocked his lane with her body, drew a black-handled chrome revolver and fired a shot into the air. As the driver attempted to leave, he said Habib positioned herself in front of his truck. The driver said he tried to drive away out of fear, and his truck made contact with Habib, causing her to fall onto the hood.
