Suspect indicted on murder charges in Mall of Louisiana mass shooting

BATON ROUGE — The suspect accused of opening fire at the Mall of Louisiana, killing 17-year-old Martha Odom and injuring several others, was indicted Wednesday on murder charges.

Court filings show a grand jury indicted Markel Lee, now 18, on one count of second-degree murder, six counts of attempted second-degree murder and one count of illegal use of weapons. He is being held at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

Lee was initially arrested a day after the April 24 mass shooting on one count of first-degree murder, five counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of illegal use of weapons…
