BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A man from Honduras was sentenced to 10 years after pleading guilty to attempted coercion and enticement of a minor.
U.S. District Court Judge Brian Jackson also sentenced William Alexander Ruiz-Ponce, 28, to serve five years of supervised release. He could be removed or deported from the country after his sentence.
According to a release from U.S. Attorney Kurt Wall, social media apps and text messages were used to communicate with someone Ruiz-Ponce believed to be a 14-year-old girl in Denham Springs.
