Inside Baton Rouge’s newest Mexican restaurant, pink walls and tropical plants give a summer-hideaway feel, a fitting backdrop for $5 tacos paired with a margarita.
Vals, at 7242 Perkins Road, opened its second location inside the former Rock Paper Taco building. The New Orleans-born business opened its original location on Freret Street in 2020 and became known as a fast-casual taco spot.
“The goal is, when you enter the building, to sort of forget where you are and be transported into a different place, a different feeling,” said partner Matthew Kohnke.
