West Baton Rouge: Four inmates exhibited a “narcotic event” forcing Narcan to be administered

WEST BATON ROUGE PARISH — UWK has learned that multiple inmates at the West Baton Rouge Parish Detention Center were listed as being possibly “unresponsive” on Tuesday afternoon. It’s why multiple people responded to the detention center around 6 p.m. on July 7.

UWK is learning that four inmates were unresponsive from possible overdoses and some did regain consciousness. Officials now say all four were exhibiting a “narcotic event” and were given Narcan before they were transported to hospitals out of an abundance of caution. All four are now returning to the facility and expected to make a full recovery, WBRSO told UWK.

WBRSO’s Chief of Staff Kevin Devall said their command staff is meeting tonight to review procedures and “will possibly making a review of those policies and if need be, making some changes, tonight to ensure better quality control coming in.”…
