Dallas youth group spends week in Baton Rouge repairing and painting homes

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Around 100 teenagers from a Dallas church traveled more than 400 miles to Baton Rouge this week to repair and repaint homes still recovering from hurricane damage years later.

The group is from Highland Park United Methodist Church in Dallas, partnering with First United Methodist Baton Rouge and its outreach ministry, Revive 225. Their goal for the week is to repair and repaint seven homes.

Students trade summer break for service

Youth Ministry Member Beau Stewart said the experience has brought the group together.

“The way God has worked through all of us has been insane,” Stewart said. “We have almost like 100 people, maybe more, and we’ve come together like a family to work hard. We’re so excited every day to come out here and work.”…
