Baton Rouge Lists 20+ Adjudicated Lots With Opening Bids as Low as $100

More than a dozen tax-delinquent properties across Baton Rouge are being lined up for transfer through the Metro Council’s adjudicated-property process, with opening bids starting as low as $100—though buyers should know that’s rarely the full out-of-pocket cost.

Fourteen adjudicated properties—land seized by the parish for failure to pay property taxes—were introduced for a public hearing on July 22, according to the Metro Council agenda. The lots span Council Districts 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, and 10, covering subdivisions including Southdowns, Richmond Park, and Victoria Gardens.

The range in value is striking. A lot on North 32nd Street in Richmond Park carries an assessed value of $6,100 but has accumulated $14,774 in unpaid taxes since it was adjudicated in 2010—yet its opening bid is only $100. Meanwhile, a Baldridge Place lot at 4018 Chippewa Street has the highest assessed value in the batch at $45,700, with a $3,000 opening bid…
