Severe weather blowing through Southeast Louisiana

A line of storms began crossing Southeast Louisiana before dawn with winds gusting near 40 miles per hour and heavy rain.

By 6:00am, there were about 6,000 power outages from Baton Rouge to St. Tammany Parish. Another 2,600 lost electricity in Jefferson Parish after 7:30am.

“Expect heavy rain for your Thursday morning drive,” WWL TV MeteorologistPayton Malone advised. “The rain won’t be in a hurry to wrap up either, so expect a soggy morning.”…
