BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The family of Kyren Lacy has filed a lawsuit against the Louisiana State Police (LSP) after claiming the agency “intentionally fabricated evidence” in a 2024 crash report.
According to a lawsuit filed in the 19th Judicial District, Kenneth Lacy and Kandace Washington are suing the law enforcement agency, the state of Louisiana, and two LSP troopers, Sgt. Leeman Howard and Trooper Tyler Werner, who participated in the investigation of the deadly crash.
Facts of the crash
On Dec. 17, 2024, a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 20 in Lafourche Parish resulted in the death of Herman Hall, 78. Kyren Lacy was driving south on LA Hwy 20 at the time. Before the crash, Lacy passed several vehicles in a “no-passing zone.”
Video evidence provided by the Lafourche Parish District Attorney’s Office demonstrated that Lacy re-entered the southbound lane nearly 100 yards before the crash and was about 72.6 yards behind the crash when the crash happened…
