Brusly: Smoke shop owner arrested | Business shut down accused of selling to juveniles

BRUSLY — A local smoke shop owner was arrested after allegedly selling alcohol and nicotine vapes to juveniles.

In early March, the Brusly Police Department learned that the owner of Ramez Smoke Shop, located at 142 N. Vaughan Drive, had allegedly sold bourbon to a juvenile. The juvenile’s mother had notified officers about the incident and told them that it was “common knowledge among juveniles” that they could purchase vapes and alcohol at the store, according to Brusly PD.

Brusly PD detectives contacted the Louisiana Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement Agency regarding the complaint and advised them that the Brusly officers were starting an investigation with surveillance.

On April 2, Brusly detectives say they saw a juvenile male walk into the shop and leave out after allegedly buying a vape. The detectives were able to verify the child’s age using his driver’s license and confirmed he was a minor, prohibited from purchasing or possessing vape products…
