‘This program gave me hope’: BRCC North Baton Rouge initiative enters 13th year

Ask questions, don’t procrastinate and safety first, electrician Brittany Robinson told students, who were attending an open house for BRCC’s North Baton Rouge Industrial Training Initiative. Less than a decade ago, she was on the other side of the table.

Robinson, 32, is a graduate of NBRITI, a free craft training program at BRCC geared toward North Baton Rouge. She never thought she’d be an electrician, previously studying criminal justice at BRCC. But after she struggled to find a babysitter for her son while she was in classes, she had to drop out…
