Judge seals civil suit of confessed killer of Comeaux High Senior Matthew Carter

A Baton Rouge judge on Thursday temporarily sealed a civil lawsuit filed by the person who shot and killed Comeaux High Senior Matthew Carter in 2020.

The confessed shooter, 13 years old at the time he shot Carter in the head to steal his Chevy Camaro, is 20 now. He was sentenced to juvenile life, which means he would be released on his 21st birthday in April of 2027.

His attorney, Jason Robideaux of Lafayette, filed a lawsuit against the state Office of Juvenile Justice seeking release of his client immediately…
