SEATTLE (KPTV) – A Texas couple has been indicted on federal fraud charges after allegedly stealing more than $2.5 million from vulnerable victims, including a Washington state woman who sent more than $2 million to a self-described psychic who promised to remove a curse from her life.
A federal grand jury in Seattle charged Bridgette Doreen Evans, 47, and Vinnie John Uwanawich, 44, both of Frisco, Texas, with conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud and four counts of mail fraud, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Washington.
Authorities allege Evans operated under the alias “Jolene Travis” and used social media to attract people struggling with divorce, grief, loneliness and other personal hardships.
