After Video Seattle Open Drug Use, Human Trafficking, Mayor Katie Wilson Announces Crackdown

Days after a video produced by The Discovery Institute’s Senior Fellow Jonathan Choe featuring KVI’s Ari Hoffman and We Heart Seattle founder Andrea Suarez documented open fentanyl use, suspected human trafficking, drug dealing, and deteriorating public safety conditions in Seattle’s Little Saigon and Chinatown-International District, Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson announced a new strategy for the area, declaring the city will “no longer tolerate open-air drug sale and use.”

The announcement follows a recent evening tour documented by Choe, who accompanied Hoffman and Suarez through some of Seattle’s most troubled neighborhoods, including 12th Avenue South and South Jackson Street and Dr. Jose Rizal Park, where they encountered widespread drug activity and public disorder just blocks from Seattle’s stadium district and future 2026 FIFA World Cup venues.
