Seattle drivers are being warned to plan ahead as another round of Revive I-5 construction brings major disruptions to one of the region’s busiest freeway corridors.
According to KING 5, northbound Interstate 5 through Seattle is facing weekend closures tied to repair work on the Ship Canal Bridge. For commuters, weekend travelers, airport runs, event traffic, and anyone trying to move through the city, this is the kind of closure that can turn a normal drive into a slow crawl.
The work is part of Washington’s larger Revive I-5 effort, a long-term push to repair and preserve aging sections of the freeway. The Ship Canal Bridge is one of the biggest pieces of that puzzle. It carries nearly 240,000 vehicles a day and has not had a major preservation effort in about 40 years, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
