The 51-year-old woman who died Tuesday after colliding with a gate on the 1st Avenue South Bridge has been identified as Janine Cross.

Janine was riding a Letric XPLite northbound in the biking and walking path of the bridge shortly before noon when she “struck the bridge gate,” according to a Washington State Patrol press memo (PDF). It is not clear from the memo or from follow-up questions to WSP specifically which gate she struck. After the crash, she and her totaled bike came to a rest on the path. No other people were involved, according to the memo. She was transported to Harborview Medical Center where she died.
