PORTLAND, Ore. — Amtrak Cascades service between Portland and Seattle remains disrupted through at least Monday, Aug. 10, as a result of a fire at a warehouse near Portland Union Station.
Two round trips are operating between Seattle and Vancouver, Wash., while three others are being replaced by buses and one has been canceled entirely, according to the Cascades website. The website also says the disruption will be in place “until further notice.” Those who opt for the trains must arrange their own transportation between Portland and Vancouver, Wash. Trains are operating normally between Portland and Eugene, Ore., and Seattle and Vancouver, British Columbia.
Service has been disrupted since an Aug. 2 fire at the abandoned Centennial Mills warehouse just north of Portland Union Station [see “Structure fire leads to suspension …,” Trains.com, Aug. 5, 2026]. Service was originally suspended through Aug. 6, but officials are still assessing how to safely demolish the warehouse, which is at risk of collapse.
