Washington Man Killed in Highway 36 Crash Near Hillcrest Road

A 76-year-old man from Brier, Washington, has died following a single-vehicle collision Tuesday morning just outside the city limits on the west end of Susanville. The California Highway Patrol is currently withholding the driver’s identity pending the notification of next of kin.

According to a report from the Susanville CHP office, dispatchers received a call at approximately 9:18a.m. on April 14th, regarding a crash on State Route 36 near Hillcrest Road.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 2022 Acura that had been involved in a major collision. The preliminary investigation indicates that the driver was traveling eastbound on SR-36 at an unknown speed when, for reasons still under investigation, he allowed the vehicle to exit the south edge of the roadway…
