First next-generation Amtrak Cascades train arrives in Seattle

SEATTLE — The first next-generation Amtrak Cascades Airo trainset arrived in Seattle on Saturday, marking the beginning of a major passenger rail upgrade for the Pacific Northwest.

The new train is the first of eight planned for the Amtrak Cascades route connecting Eugene, Oregon, Portland, Seattle and Vancouver, British Columbia. Officials say the trainsets will gradually replace aging rail cars that have been in service for decades.
