The National Weather Service in Birmingham has extended the “Heat Advisory” through Saturday, July 9, at 9 p.m.
Residents should be aware that the heat index values could reach 110 °F.
The “odds of any one spot seeing an afternoon storm are 25-35 percent over the northern half of the state, 15-25 percent across South Alabama,” said James Spann, Alabama Weather Network Chief Meteorologist. “Most of the scattered storms come from noon to 9:00 p.m.”
