TRUSSVILLE, Ala. (TRIBUNE) — Trussville Mayor Ben Short recently filed a notice of intent to participate in federal proceedings in connection with a proposed merger of Union Pacific Railroad and Norfolk Southern Railroad.
The filings were made with the Surface Transportation Board. Short said he wants the city’s concerns about blocked crossings, emergency access, and quality life considered before a merger be approved.
Trussville is located near a large Norfolk Southern rail yard, meaning the city has dealt with blocked railroad crossings for years.
