MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WBRC) – New attorneys for suspended Jefferson County Probate Judge Yashiba Blanchard appeared in court Tuesday, Aug. 18, pushing to delay the trial for four months.
Matt Hart, who joined Blanchard’s defense team with Jess Nix on Aug. 9, argued it would be difficult to mount an adequate defense before the November 2026 trial date, given the size of the case: a “huge” 120-page complaint that triggered Blanchard’s automatic suspension in May along with witness lists that now total more than 70 names combined.
