KultureCity officially unveiled plans Saturday night for the first-of-its-kind National Accessibility Park at the historic Powell Steam Plant in downtown Birmingham.
The National Accessibility Park, or NAP, is designed to help people navigate disability, build futures and strengthen communities. It will include four main elements: the National Disability Learning Center, City Technical College, MOKA: Museum of Kulture for Accessibility, and an Intergenerational Park and Amphitheater.
“We are honored to expand accessibility and open everyday experiences to more people, including the one in four of us who have invisible disabilities through KultureCity’s National Accessibility Park,” Dr. Michele Kong, co-founder of KultureCity, said. “We are thrilled to open a space that will help more individuals navigate disability post-diagnoses, including building career opportunities, and strengthen the Birmingham community through a sensory inclusive and accessible gathering space.”…
