BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The city of Birmingham is considering rezoning a property in the Redmont Park and Highland Park neighborhoods, a proposal that has sparked controversy among residents.
The property is where the FiveStone Group is proposing to develop The Tramont, a high-end boutique hotel with condominiums.
“Our desire is to bring to Birmingham a high-end boutique luxury hotel, 80 acres with between 10 and 15 condominiums on the top floor,” said David Silverstein, president of The FiveStone Group. “Birmingham has a void in the hospitality market for that upper-end hospitality, and we think that we can fill that void with this type of project.”…
