Fairfield mayor visits Patmos campus in Kansas City as company eyes city for possible data center development

FAIRFIELD, Ala. (WBRC) – Fairfield Mayor Herman Carnes Jr. and a city councilor traveled to Kansas City this week to tour a Patmos data center tech campus. The company is proposing to convert the old Walmart Supercenter in Fairfield into a data center and technology campus.

“I went in the building, that’s when I saw all the machines and things like that. In my mind I was like… wow… all the myths about how noisy and I’m in a building where people are actually working. It kind of reminds you of an incubator,” Carnes said.
