BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – As Child Passenger Safety Week comes to a close, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) is urging parents to properly secure children in vehicles.
“Protecting our children is one of the most important responsibilities we have,” said Sheriff Mark Pettway. “Through training and strong community partnerships, we can help give parents and caregivers the information they need to make every ride a safer one for their children.”
Officials are encouraging parents and caregivers to check their child’s car seat, review age and size recommendations and make sure every child is properly buckled before the vehicle moves. Those simple steps take only a few minutes, according to the JCSO.
