Center Point man dies after reporting illness at Bessemer jail

A Center Point man died after reporting that he was feeling ill while being held at the Jefferson County Jail-Bessemer Division, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.

Michael Kennedy, 60, reported feeling ill to jail staff Saturday night, Oct. 3. He was later taken to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead Monday, Oct. 6, at 3:36 p.m.

An examination is planned for Tuesday to help determine Kennedy’s cause and manner of death…
