BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – The prison healthcare contractor that had its $1 billion contract with the Alabama Department of Corrections cancelled after failing to pay workers on time has filed for bankruptcy.
YesCare sought chapter 11 protection in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Middle District of Florida on Friday. YesCare listed liabilities up to $500 million in the filing and reported as many as 5,000 creditors. It listed estimated assets between $50 million and $100 million.
The state awarded YesCare, a company based in Brentwood, Tennessee, a $1.06 billion contract in 2023 to provide comprehensive healthcare to all ADOC inmates through September 2027…
