WPB cleaner accused of stealing $25K engagement ring, pawning it for $1,200

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A West Palm Beach woman is facing felony charges after investigators say she stole a nearly $25,000 engagement ring from a home she was cleaning and pawned it for cash.

Officers with the West Palm Beach Police Department say 37-year-old Laura Liliana Sangabriel-Dorantes is accused of taking the diamond ring from a residence in the 2400 block of Presidential Way on April 2.

Investigators say the victim hired a cleaning service when the ring, described as a 2-carat round-cut diamond on a platinum band, went missing from a bathroom shelf shortly after the cleaning was completed. The victim initially believed the jewelry had been misplaced but later reported it stolen after a search turned up empty…
