Endorsement: Elect Democrat Debra Tendrich to the Florida House of Representatives

In the Aug. 20 primary, The Palm Beach Post endorsed Democrat Debra Tendrich . Very little has occurred during the general election campaign to make the paper’s editorial board change that recommendation. She’s the far better choice in this race and voters should choose her to become the next representative of Florida House District 89.

Tendrich is a 37-year-old fitness and health instructor living in Lake Worth . She brings energy and a deep community involvement that has helped her build connections with businesses, faith-based organizations, nonprofits and political groups within the district. If elected, she’d address concerns important to her constituents, like creating more reasonably priced housing, improving public schools, and protecting reproductive rights and healthcare access.

Republican Daniel Zapata, 24, is also seeking the seat. A West Palm Beach resident and a high school teacher at the Atlantic Christian Academy, he would focus on education, address property insurance and the looming condo-homeowners association crisis, as well as try to bring back more appropriations to address district needs.
