BOCA RATON, Fla. (CBS12) — Mosquitoes are a familiar nuisance across Florida, but this summer, one local educator is using them as a hands-on way to teach kids about science and prevention.
Agricultural expert Jason McCobb, also known as Farmer Jay, is leading a series of classes focused on the mosquito lifecycle, why mosquitoes bite, and what people can do to keep them away. The goal is to turn a common frustration into an engaging learning experience.
In his classes, McCobb gives kids an up-close look at mosquitoes in their earliest stages, often showing live larvae and pupae in small containers so students can see how they develop.
