Bryan Kohberger case: Probe into leaker of info before plea deal heats up

(NewsNation) — July will mark one year since Bryan Kohberger admitted to killing four University of Idaho students as part of a plea agreement.

Kohberger pleaded guilty in 2025 to the 2022 killings of Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Ethan Chapin and Xana Kernodle. He is now serving life sentences. His case drew national attention and was marked by extensive leaks of case information before a trial could begin.

An investigation into those leaks appears to be intensifying, according to Idaho Statesman investigative reporter Kevin Fixler, who spoke with NewsNation’s Brian Entin.

“I confirmed that through two former defense experts for the Kohberger defense team, and also an attorney who represents two of the victims’ families — the Laramies and the Chapins,” Fixler said.
