A routine traffic stop in Lynn on Friday turned into a major drug bust, with detectives seizing roughly 160 grams of cocaine, about 22 grams of fentanyl and more than $4,500 in cash, according to the Lynn Police Department. The stop followed surveillance in which officers say they watched what appeared to be a drug transaction. The department’s initial update did not identify any suspects or list specific charges.

In a public post on Facebook, the Lynn Police Department said detectives with the Drug Task Force “observed an individual engage in a drug transaction” before making the traffic stop. A search turned up what officers reported as “approximately 160 grams of cocaine, 22 grams of fentanyl and over $4,500 in U.S. currency.”
The department added that officers from its 1st Division provided “valuable assistance” during the operation. The Facebook post did not include additional information on arrests, potential charges or the identities of anyone involved.
