Stop & Shop parent company agrees to $40M settlement over inflated drug prices

The parent company of Stop & Shop and other major grocery store chains has agreed to pay $40 million to settle charges of inflating drug prices on reimbursement claims.

Quincy-based Ahold Delhaize USA Inc. inaccurately reported higher prices when submitting claims under prescription discount programs for patients with public insurance such as Medicare and Medicaid, resulting in inflated payments from those programs, according to a news release from the U.S. Department of Justice.
