A simple expired inspection sticker in Norwood turned into a far more serious situation on Monday, as police say a routine traffic stop led to the arrest of a Brockton man and the seizure of suspected cocaine, oxycodone and items commonly linked to street-level drug sales.
Officers say the driver, identified as Daniel Fernandes-Canuto of Brockton, was taken into custody on state charges after officers looked beyond the paperwork issue and started noticing what they describe as telltale signs of drug distribution inside the vehicle.
What Officers Say They Found
According to the Norwood Police Department (Facebook), officers recovered about 14.3 grams of suspected cocaine and seven suspected oxycodone pills. Police say they also found packaging materials, a digital scale, a ledger they believe tracks transactions, multiple cellphones and $655 in cash…
