Defendant in murder case investigated by Michael Proctor arrested on drug charges

A man whose murder case became a central point of fallout from the allegations of misconduct by former Massachusetts State Police trooper Michael Proctor has been arrested again, court documents reveal.

Myles King is accused of killing Marquis Simmons in 2021. His murder case is one of several in Norfolk County that have come under scrutiny in the aftermath of the Karen Read case. Proctor, who lost his job over his handling of the Read case, was also the lead investigator in the King case, and King’s attorneys have pushed questions about whether the former trooper acted appropriately.

Read was famously acquitted of all but a drunk driving charge in her murder case, and the information that came to light about Proctor has become a point of public interest and potential ammunition for defense attorneys.
